Ivan Henriques is a transdisciplinary artist and researcher working in multimedia installations examining different perceptions of time, memory and environment. He explores in his works hybrids of nature and (technological) culture creating new forms of communication between humans and other living organisms. He considers nature as inspiration and a necessary factor in the development of the technological world. Ivan won several prizes for his works among them for Jurema Action Plant and EME>> (Estúdio Móvel Experimental) – Experimental Mobile Studio from 2008 until 2010, a project selected and funded by the Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro (BR) and Conexões Artes Visuais, (BR). Henriques has been working in parallel with Kuarasy O berab: musical group playing with electronics, creating ambient-dub-native-beats improvisation; and collaborating with the Technological University in Rio de Janeiro CEFET-RJ (BR). He launched EME>> (Estúdio Móvel Experimental) – Experimental Mobile Studio in 2008/2009, a project selected and funded by the Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and financed by Conexões Artes Visuais – Funarte having four more residencies in 2010. Lately he exhibited his works internationally, participating in festivals, residencies, talks and exhibitions. In 2011 he was nominated for Prix Ars Electronica and invited to exhibit his project at Artbots in Gent (BE), Leiden University Medical Center Gallery (NL), Taming Technology at Le Murate, Florence (IT) and at ISEA RUHR 2010 in Dortmund (GE); screened the video ReLandscaping at FILE- SP 2010 in São Paulo (BR). He participated in residency programs such as V2_ in Rotterdam NL (summer 2010), 4Territórios – Funarte – 2008, BR, Beacon Project, Oslo, NO in 2007 and Verbeke Foundation, BE, 2011/12. Ivan Henriques holds an MA in ArtScience Interfaculty at the Royal Academy of Arts and Royal Conservatoire of Music, The Hague /NL (2011), represented by Verbeke Gallery and also member of TRANSNATURAL.

Muito impressionante teu trabalho… Eu queria saber mais sobre Jurema A.P. depois da nossa visita no Verbeke. Agora com o texto em Inglês eu entende um pouco mais. Pronto, já estou a pensar que no futuro os carros e maquinas podem andar quando toca a planta
Foi um grande coincidência que o Ronald, Alexandre e Guga encontra um colega assim. Eu queria eles conhecer este local doido. Agora estou a seleccionar as fotos do nosso tempo cá para enviar. Fui também ou site do Verbeke porque tenho de por as legendas nas fotos das obras das artistas. Pena que você não estava na abertura da Europalia no M HKA, foi muito legal.
